My old pal Jason Martin is now here on DeviantArt!!



Jason is best known for inking over Joe Mad on BattleChasers, Ed McGuinness, Jason Pearson, and I feel he was the best inker to ever work with Adam Hughes. Honestly, I think Jason is the best brush inker the comic industry ever had. He's taken a few years away from the industry to do his own illustration work for videogame magazines and anime stuff -- but, he's threatening a return to comics! Please go visit him and encourage this -- he's the man! I would love to see him hook up with some of the talent in the field right now and kick all sorts of ass.

Sorry for not updating the journal is so long. Crazy busy and crazy colds (yay -- back to school!). Just want to point out that I've got some originals on eBay right now. Here's the [link]

Hey folks,

For those that are coming down to the Mini MegaCon here in Orlando, Florida next weekend, August 22-23, I'll be appearing in the special guest area, booth 423. Doors open at 10am on Saturday, and I'll be there signing and doing con sketches. See the previous post to grab your spot!

Saturday at 12:30, I'll be appearing at the Hero Initiative booth doing head shots and busts to raise money for a great charity. Track me down there if that's what you're looking for -- I probably won't be able to do quick sketches like that during the rest of the show.

Oh well! You might've heard that the Exiles relaunch was canceled. I was told about it while I was halfway through drawing issue #5, but was asked to keep it quiet. I'm quite proud I didn't spill the beans at Heroes Con! I guess seeing my name in the solicitations didn't give the book the HUGE SPIKE in sales that it would've taken to save the book. Sorry I was too late!

I'd say launching a new book at $3.99 in a bad recession was the biggest obstacle. The crew was fantastic -- Jeff Parker and Karl Kesel are both great guys, and the editors Jordan White and Mark Paniccia treated me really, really well. It was a good experience, and while I'll hate to miss the story we'd talked about doing in the Savage Land for my next arc, it was still a ton of fun to draw Ultron and Machine Man for a while!!

So there you go! Lucky for me (and my family!), I got crazy busy doing work for a-large-entertainment-company-based-here-in-Orlando the day I got the news, so it all worked out fine. Whew!
